Email deliverability basics for growing lists
Deliverability depends on list quality, authentication, content habits and steady sending behaviour.
Email performance starts before a campaign is written. If the list is old, poorly permissioned or full of inactive contacts, even a well-designed message can struggle to reach the inbox.
The basics matter: authenticate the sending domain, keep SPF, DKIM and DMARC records in order, remove hard bounces, avoid sudden jumps in volume and make unsubscribe routes clear.
Content habits also affect deliverability. Overly promotional subject lines, image-only emails, weak segmentation and low engagement can all make inbox placement harder over time.
For growing lists, the goal is steady reputation building. Send useful content to people who expect it, monitor engagement and treat reporting as an early warning system rather than a scoreboard after the damage is done.
